Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope that the children had a good half term break. This half term we have parent consultations, World Book Day and lots more. Please check the calendar and look out for information on upcoming events.
Poetry Week: During the week (17th - 21st March) the whole school will be celebrating poetry. Children will have the chance to write, perform and immerse themselves in the world of poetry. This week will ignite creativity, build confidence and foster an appreciation of language across all year groups. Open classrooms will take place during this week and more information will be sent by class teachers shortly. KS2 children also have the opportunity to take part in Poetry by Heart National Competition. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to memorize and perform a poem of their choice, competing on a national level. Click here for more information on the competition.
NSPCC: If you want to support your child at home to help them understand that their body belongs to them, and they should tell someone they trust if anything makes them feel upset or worried.

The football team play St. Michael's tomorrow. Let's hope they can start the half term with a win.
From 1st April 2025, school meal prices will increase to £3.50 for Key Stage 2 children. We appreciate that this comes in at a difficult time financially for lots of families. As ever please speak to the school office if you require any financial assistance.
We appreciate the traffic in town is terrible and this has an impact on many of you in the mornings. Can we please ask you make every effort to get your children into school before the register closes at 9am. All late marks are recorded on your child’s attendance.
Please can you to think carefully about what you send for a snack for break time in KS2. We have an increasing number of children bringing in snacks such as chocolate bars.

The children in KS1 & KS2 will be visiting Waterstones next week to spend their £1 book voucher. Class teachers will send more information. Here is more information about this year's books.
EYFS children will bring their voucher home this week. These vouchers can be used in Waterstones, The Works, Tesco and Sainsburys. It would be great to see which book the children choose.
Donations needed
Do you have any book you no longer read ?
We would like to run a pre-loved book sale.
Please bring any unmarked books into school this week.
If they wish, children can dress up as a book character on World Book Day but there is not expectation.
We are asking children to bring in a ‘prop’ to represent a book they enjoy.
We would like to celebrate how children show these skills outside of school. Please bring in photos or email jlilley@thorngrove.herts.sch.uk to add to our display board. For more information on these skills and how you can access Skills Builder Homezone see our information sheet
