Dear Parents and Carers,
Last week Year 6 had lots of fun at Manor Adventure. Thank you Mrs Lilley, Mr Evans and Mrs Richey for making their time away memorable.
In October we will be having our Harvest festivals for nursery, reception, year 1 and year 2. We look forward to welcoming you in to school on Wed 9th October. To support the local community we will be asking for food donations that will go to the local Food Bank and be given to families in the town. More information will follow.
If you’re interested in joining the PTA and helping out this year please email: PTA@thorngrove.herts.sch.uk. We also have the school disco on Friday 27th September, you could speak to a PTA member to find out how to become involved.
There are still spaces in Mrs Smith's Forest School Club on Tuesdays after school. If your child is interested please let the office or Mrs Smith know. There is a charge of £1 per session for children to attend. This is not Thorn Growers run by Wendy Gordon.
Please always keep an eye on your children at the end of the school day. It is important that they remain with you and don't access the forest or pond area. For safety we please ask that the children do not play on the trim trail.
With this unpredictable weather, please remember to send your child in with a coat, we try to get them out for some fresh air at break and lunchtimes whatever the weather.
If you have any difficulties with your children at home and need of any advice or guidance then please contact our Local partnership, Aspects. Aspects is a family & pupil support service to help you through some of the challenges. Their website is http://www.aspects.org.uk. You can contact then Tel: 01279 758134
Email : admin@aspects.org.uk
There are times in all of our lives when we need someone to talk to. This helps us overcome issues when things are emotionally difficult to deal with. To support the children in school Heather Chapman (school counsellor) comes in every Friday. If you feel your child would benefit from talking through their problems, let us know if you would like them to speak to Heather.
Voting closes on 30th September 2024
Don't forget if you are shopping in Tesco's please vote for our Sensory and Wellbeing Room. Make sure you pick up the blue tokens in any of the Bishops Stortford, Stansted or Elsenham stores. To vote, you will need to make a purchase within store of any value. You will receive one token per transaction and it's not necessary to purchase a carrier bag in order to receive a token.
Please consider what activities your children engage with before school. Dr Manon Collet suggests that extended exposure to screens in the morning before school exhausts a child’s attention, making them less able to acquire.
