Dear Parents and Carers,
It was lovely to see so many of you attend our Sports Days last week. We hope you enjoyed coming along to see your children. The children did very well considering the hot weather. Thank you to the staff and the Year 5 and Year 6 helpers for making them run so smoothly.
On next week's newsletter we will be sharing your child's class teacher for the next academic year. The Secondary Transition day is on Thursday 10th July. This is the morning when we plan for the children to meet their new teacher and go into their new classroom. This may be on a different date for KS1 but we will let you know.
Last week the the cricket team played Howe Green. Unfortunately, the team did not win but they were a credit to the school and showed great determination and ability.
Our Year 2 class will be attending the local schools Music Festival at the South Mill Centre tomorrow morning. They will be performing with Windhill and St. Michael's.
It is important that your children attend school every day. We will be asking to meet those parents where attendance needs improving and see how to support you. Every day at school counts. The evidence is clear - even a few days of missed school can have a significant impact on a child's education and future prospects. At primary school, children who attend school nearly every day in Year 6 (95-100% attendance) are 30% more likely to reach the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths compared to similar pupils who attend 90-95% of the time.
