Weekly Newsletter
Monday 22nd January
Dear Parents and Carers,
It was great to see so many of you come in last week for the open classrooms. We hope it gave you an insight into your child's learning. If you were unable to attend there will be opportunities during the summer term. We will also have parent consultations in March, week beginning Monday 18th March.
Well done to our children in Year 3,4,5 and 6 who competed in the Sports hall Athletics at Birchwood against other local schools last week. Their effort, attitudes and behaviour were excellent.
We hope to see some of you this Wednesday 24th January @ 9am in the school hall for the Parent mental health awareness workshop. The theme is creating positive relationships and is being led by Evie Turner and Chantal Caylor from the East Herts Mental Health Support Team.
Orange house achieved the most house points in the autumn term. Children who are in orange house will be able to wear non-uniform this Friday 26th January. Please note that this is not a non-uniform day for the whole school.
At drop off and pick up times can we ask that you turn your engines off. Leaving your engine running when your vehicle is stationary is called idling which creates air pollution by increasing the levels of exhaust fumes and harmful gases in the air. Air pollution irritates the lungs, lowers resistance to infection and makes conditions like asthma, heart and lung disease worse. This may impact the children's health as they come in to school.
The PTA are always looking for new members. It would be great if there were representatives from every year group who can help share information via parent WhatsApp and Facebook groups. If you are interested then please email PTA@thorngrove.herts.sch.uk. The next PTA meeting is tomorrow, Tuesday 23rd January @ 7:30pm in The Nags Head. Please come along if you are able to. At the meeting they will be discussing plans for any upcoming events in the Spring and Summer terms.
Some parents have made enquiries regarding lost property. We have a lost property box which is checked regularly and named items are returned to the relevant classroom. For this reason please ensure all items of clothing are named to ensure that ‘lost’ items can be returned.
There is a new dodgeball club running in Bishops Stortford on Friday evenings for children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. 5Ds Dodgeball is a brand new dodgeball league and the fast paced game builds on cognitive and physical skills, all at the same time. If you're child is interested in finding out more then please check out the website:
