Dear Parents and Carers,
It was lovely to see so many of you attend our Sports Days last week. We hope you enjoyed coming along to see your children. The children did very well considering that the weather was getting warmer as the day went on. Thank you to the staff and the Year 5 and Year 6 helpers for making them run so smoothly.
The results are in and the winners are:
KS1 Amur Leopard
KS2 Coral Reef
Overall Amur Leopard
There will be a non-uniform day for those children in Amur Leopard house on Friday 3rd July.
The forecast is for incredibly hot weather this week and we will do our best to keep the children cool. Please ensure that you send your children in with a water bottle and a hat and you apply sun cream before they come into school:They can reapply their own during the day. Apply sunblock or broad-band sunscreens with high sun protection factors (of at least SPF 30 and ultraviolet A (UVA) rating of 4 or more stars) to protect skin. Children can wear loose, light-coloured clothing to keep cool if they find the school uniform too hot, this week.
There is another England game tomorrow night. Like last week the school register will be open as normal however registration we will not close until 10am. We would rather you bring them in a little later than keep them off for being tired!
On next week's newsletter we will be sharing your child's class teacher for the next academic year. The Secondary Transition day is on Thursday 9th July. This is the morning when we plan for the children to meet their new teacher and go into their new classroom.
The summer holidays are great opportunity for the children to rest and relax from a busy summer term. However, we know that they can be very expensive for parents when you are trying to keep them entertained. If you're looking at ways to reduce what you spend please have a look at the Government website.
Summer Savings - Cost of Living Help
It is important that children attend school every day. We will be asking to meet those parents where attendance needs improving and see if we can offer support. Every day at school counts. The evidence is clear - even a few days of missed school can have a significant impact on a child's education and future prospects. Primary school children who attend school nearly every day in Year 6 (95-100% attendance) are 30% more likely to reach the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths compared to similar pupils who attend 90-95% of the time.
It has been lovely to see so many children celebrating their heritage today. On Friday, there will be another opportunity for children to wear traditional dress or a t-shirt in the colours of a flag. Parents are invited to join us on Friday from 2:30pm. Please access your child's classroom via the external doors.

Clara Schumann
Clara Josephine Schumann was a German pianist, composer and piano teacher. Regarded as one of the most distinguished pianists of the Romantic era, she exerted her influence over the course of a 61-year concert career, changing the format and repertoire of the piano recital by lessening the importance of purely virtuosic works. She also composed solo piano pieces, a piano concerto, chamber music, choral pieces and songs.
