Weekly Newsletter
Monday 22nd April 2024
Dear Parents and Carers,
this week is Science Week and today, we have Dr. Sai Pathmanathan leading 'Chews Your Own Tasty Adventure' workshops for all the year groups, looking at the link between science and food. Science Education Consultant, Dr. Sai Pathmanathan, was funded by the Royal Society of Chemistry and ran food-chemistry sessions. This included why we use raising agents in baking, how chocolate chips melt, what do we get from coconuts (milk, desiccated coconut, oil), and how to hand roll pasta. To purchase a copy of Dr. Sai Pathmanathan's book 'Chews Your Own Tasty Adventure' please click on the link.

Tomorrow, we have Fab Science and their 'Potty Potions' show and KS2 workshops. The children will also 'smashing stereotypes' in science this week.
Last week our football teams took part in the Kitteridge Allsports football tournaments at Manuden. The year 3/4 team competed well and were unfortunate not to make the quarter finals. The year 5/6 team won most of their games and reached the semi-finals which was a great achievement against some very strong teams. The girls went one better and came runners up losing on penalties. They were brilliant from the first game to the last. Alyssa Bailey won goalkeeper of the tournament. Everyone at the school is incredibly proud.
Please look out for an invitation from your child's class teacher to come in to school and see some their learning. The open classes will be throughout next week (week beginning 29th April) in year 1 to year 6. It will be great to see as many of you as possible.
Please can we remind you to put names in your child's school jumpers and cardigans. We have an increasing number of unnamed items in lost property.
There is lots going on so please make sure you check the diary for key dates over the coming weeks. We hope to see you at some of our upcoming events such as Sports Days, which have now been confirmed: Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6) - Wednesday 5th June (am). EYFS (Nursery and Reception) and KS1 (Year 1 and 2) - Wednesday 12th June (am).
Please do not park near the school car park entrance gates, especially if you are running late, this is for the safety of the children which for everyone should be a priority.
