Dear Parents/Carers,
The children have been working hard this half term and the teachers are looking forward in sharing their learning at parent consultations this week.
Half term is next week and the children finish on Friday at normal time (Reception and KS1 @ 3:10pm, KS2 3:20pm).
We wish all our families and pupils celebrating a very happy Diwali! This year Diwali begins on 20th October, 2025. Diwali means “row of lights”, and celebrates the story of Rama and Sita.
Thank you to the PTA for the fantastic school disco on Friday. Once again their selfless efforts gave all the children and parents who attended a great evening.
We'd like to thank the parents who completed the parent survey last term. Governors have reviewed the responses and are pleased to share:-
You raised concerns with the school gate being left open whilst Sunsetters afterschool club is on and the children are on the playground. Protocols are now in place to ensure that the gate is shut once parents have collected from clubs.
You said you would like more information relating to online safety being taught at school. On the newsletter we will regularly share information relating to things you should know and what you can do at home to support your child. There will be another parent information session in the new year.
You asked if you could receive more information about your child when they do well at school. We are going to explore the best ways to share this so look out for more information soon.
You wanted to know about behaviour and consequences. Please refer to the behaviour policy on the school website and speak to the staff in school to discuss individual concerns and worries.
Well done to our Year 3 and 4 children who attended the Tri-golf event at Birchwood. Mrs Khan said the children were fantastic and she was proud to take them because of their brilliant attitudes.

The table tennis table has now been installed on the KS2 playground (see pic below). Thanks to all the parents and careers who sponsored their children for the Great Athletes and for all the money raised when Great Athletes came in last term.
Thank you to Iman, Queen, Wania, Constance, Henry, Isabelle and Isaac for presenting a Black History Assembly to Years 1 - 6 today.
Thank you for all the Harvest Donations last week. Your generosity will benefit many families in the local area. We don’t know what the coming winter will be like for many residents in Bishop’s Stortford and the surrounding villages, but your support enables the Food Bank to be there for anyone who needs help through a crisis.

Visit internetmatters.org/parental-controls to find out how to set controls on devices.
As children get older, restrictions and controls you use will change, but only at a pace you feel is appropriate for your child, not pressure from your child “because everyone else is allowed.”
Content filters are never 100% effective, at some point your child may come across inappropriate or upsetting content, so make time to talk regularly.
