Parent Voice
1st November 2023
09:00-10:00
Present: 3 parents and Mrs Lilley
Agenda: (1) What is working well (2) What can be improved (3) School events (4) Going forward (5) AOB
The agenda items were discussed and the following points were noted:
Parents are happy MarvellousMe is no longer used. Parents are also happy with Tapestry communication system used in EYFS.
While a parent is receiving school communications via the Gateway system the notification alert is no longer working. Mrs Lilley suggested this was a settings issue as the messages are being received but would feed back to the office.
It would be helpful to know the daily filing for the Jacket Potato option as this is not clear on the Gateway App. Mrs Lilley confirmed this is cheese and baked beans.
When a lunch is ordered and then cancelled the lunch needs to be rebooked rather than to money being returned to the original payment method. Mrs Lilley agreed to pay this on to the office. [Mrs Lilley spoke to the office. A cancelled lunch does not have to be rebooked as the credit can sit on the account until next used. It is not possible for the system to credit money back to the original payment method.]
A parent is having trouble joining the class Parent Representatives WhatsApp group. Mrs Lilley agreed to message the relevant Parent Representative and let them know.
The format of newsletters has changed. These are now live webpages rather than pdf so they can easily be translated into different languages. Parents noted it was also easier to click on a link rather than open a pdf document.
We discussed school events such as Harvest, Christmas celebrations and open sessions. Mrs Lilley explained the school would like to include a more diverse range of celebrations and increase parent involvement, for example considering how food is used in celebrations. Parents think this is a good idea.
Parents like to new wall art which the PTA paid for.
The area at the bottom of the field will be developed. Work on a fenced pond area will begin in January.
The hybrid approach to parent consultation arrangements works well. Mrs Lilley explained if parents are unable to book their preference they should email the class teacher.
