Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope the children enjoyed their break and are rested, ready to return. This half term there is lots going on so please make sure you check the diary for key dates over the coming weeks.
Next Wednesday we have our Sports Days. The timings are as follows:
Early Years (Nursery and Reception) @ 9:15 - 10:15. Parking will be available on the school playground from 9am.
Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6) @ 10:30-12:00 (Year 6 have swimming in the afternoon) Parking for KS2 parents will be outside due to road restrictions ending at 10am.
Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) @ 1:30
We appreciate it is difficult when you have children in both Key Stages and it is spread over one day. This is due to the staffing arrangements and logistics of the Sports Day.
We are participating in the NSPCC’s Speak out Stay safe programme this term. This is a programme for children aged 5-11 which aims to help them understand abuse in all its forms and to recognise the signs of abuse. Children are taught to speak out if they are worried, either to a safe adult or to Childline. This child friendly programme is aligned with the curriculum and consists of age appropriate virtual assemblies delivered by the classteacher and supporting classroom based activities which we have reviewed, alongside NSPCC volunteer led face-to-face workshops for children in years 2, 5 and 6. The content is delivered in an engaging and interactive way with the help of the NSPCC mascot Buddy. If you would like to know more about the Speak out. Stay safe. programme visit www.nspcc.org.uk/speakout.
Please remember that this is a mobile free school site, for this reason please refrain from using your mobile phones on the school site unless this is absolutely necessary. We often see parents with phones in thier hand at the beginning and end of the day. Think of the message this sends to your children. Be there to greet and speak to your children, we are sure that they would appreciate this.

Year 2 - 97.7%
Year 1 - 96.4%
Year 5 - 93.7%
Year 3 - 90.0%

We are excited to let you know that we will be celebrating Heritage Week again this year. This is a great opportunity for the children to share, learn about, and celebrate the rich diversity of cultures and backgrounds within our school community.
Heritage Week will take place from Monday 22nd to Friday 26th June, culminating in a celebration of foods from around the world in the school hall on Friday afternoon.
We would also like to celebrate our children’s home languages by sharing poems, songs, or stories. This can be something short and simple and shared with support from home if needed.
We would like parents and carers to get involved. If you would like to:
Provide a dish for the food celebration, and/or
Share a poem, song, or story in your home language, and/or
Share any ideas
please complete this short form or email jilley@thorngrove.herts.sch.uk
Thank you to those who have already completed the form. We will provide more information shortly.
Clara Schumann
Clara Josephine Schumann was a German pianist, composer and piano teacher. Regarded as one of the most distinguished pianists of the Romantic era, she exerted her influence over the course of a 61-year concert career, changing the format and repertoire of the piano recital by lessening the importance of purely virtuosic works. She also composed solo piano pieces, a piano concerto, chamber music, choral pieces and songs.
Genres: Classical, piano
Active from: 1828 - 1891
Origin: Leipzig, Germany
