Dear Parents and Carers,
Well done to our Year 6 children with their SATs last week. They all showed fantastic attitudes and all did their best. This week they have Crucial Crew. Crucial Crew is run by Aspects and is interactive education-based sessions that teach young people important life skills such as e-safety, first-aid, information about dangerous substances, road safety, fire safety and managing money.
Class photos and sports team photos are on Wednesday. Please ensure that your children have the correct school uniform. If your child has PE can they please wear their school uniform to school for their class photo and bring the PE kit to change in to. Thank you in advance.
Next week is half term and we hope the children enjoy the break. We look forward to welcoming them back on Monday 1st June. When we return we have Heritage Week and Sports Days to look forward to. Please look out for information this week so you can help celebrate Heritage Week with us.

Message from Dame Rachel de Souza, Children’s Commissioner.
I want to make sure that I hear from as many children as possible, aged 0-18, from all backgrounds, in all schools and colleges, and in every part of the country. To do that, I need your help. I am asking children about the changes they want to see in their communities, their biggest concerns, and their hopes for the future. More than anything, I want to know what they think a good childhood should look like today.
🌟 Walk to School Week is coming this May! 🌟
We’re excited to take part in Walk to School Week — a great chance to build healthy habits, cut congestion, and help create cleaner air around our school.
Walking or wheeling to school boosts children’s physical and mental wellbeing, helps them arrive alert and ready to learn, and supports a greener environment.
How you can get involved:
Encourage your child to walk or wheel to school as often as possible.
If you can’t walk the whole way, try a Park and Stride — park a short distance away and walk the rest.

It is a style or genre of Balinese gamelan music of Indonesia. Kebyar means "to flare up or burst open", and refers to the explosive changes in tempo and dynamics which are characteristic of the style.

We are excited to let you know that we will be celebrating Heritage Week again this year. This is a great opportunity for the children to share, learn about, and celebrate the rich diversity of cultures and backgrounds within our school community.
Heritage Week will take place from Monday 22nd to Friday 26th June, culminating in a celebration of foods from around the world in the school hall on Friday afternoon.
We would also like to celebrate our children’s home languages by sharing poems, songs, or stories. This can be something short and simple and shared with support from home if needed.
We would like parents and carers to get involved. If you would like to:
Provide a dish for the food celebration, and/or
Share a poem, song, or story in your home language, and/or
Share any ideas
please complete this short form or email jilley@thorngrove.herts.sch.uk
Thank you to those who have already completed the form. We will provide more information shortly.
