Dear Parents and Carers,
Hopefully we will see some of you for our open classes this week. If you are unsure of timings please speak to your child's class teacher. If you are unable to make it there will be opportunity for you to come in to see your child's learning in the summer term.
In Yr 3 & Yr4 we welcome some trainee teachers from Cambridge University.
Miss Budden and Miss Watson will be with us until June. We're sure you'll give them a warm welcome if you see them over the coming weeks.
Red Nose Day is on Friday 21st March. The children are asked to wear something red. Red Nose Day is an initiative for Comic Relief and this provides support for amazing projects and organisations who are making a difference for people across the UK and around the world. Donations are gratefully received and pupils can donate on the day or via the payment schedule on Schoolcomms which is available now. www.schoolgateway.com
The football team had their final game last week and unfortunately lost to Windhill21. They will be taking part in a football tournament at the start of the summer term.
If you haven't already then please book your child's parent consultation appointment. There is the option to meet the teacher either face to face or remotely. To book a slot on your preferred day and time please click on the link thorngroveparentseveningsystem.co.uk
Login with the following information: Student's First Name/Student’s Surname/Student’s Date of Birth. If you have problems please contact the school office.
On Friday 28th March we will be hosting a Great Athletes Event. We have a Commonwealth Gymnastics Gold medallist, Steven Frew, coming in. He will be sharing his sporting journey and the children will take part in a sponsored fitness circuit. Please look out for sponsorship forms which you should have received at the end of last week. The money raised will help us to purchase new sports equipment and improve levels of physical activity at Thorn Grove.

The reading ambassadors would like to thank you for supporting the pre-loved book sale and reading café. These events have raised over £130.
You may have noticed that we no longer run the annual Scholastic Book Fair. This is because while the fair raises over £300 for the school, we feel the price of the books is too high and does not offer value for money to our families.
It’s great fun to read this poem out loud with someone else because it's all about the relationship between two people – how they are the same and different, and how strongly linked they are.
This poem is one big list of word-doubles. All kinds of mundane and surprising things that come in twos are used to create the idea of an inextricable bond between two people.
A doppelganger is mentioned in the poem. Click here to found out what kind of double a doppelganger is .
We would like to celebrate how children show these skills outside of school. Please bring in photos or email jlilley@thorngrove.herts.sch.uk to add to our display board. For more information on these skills and how you can access Skills Builder Homezone see our information sheet
