We have an increasing number of holidays being taken during term time. Whilst we understand the financial pressures and the cost of holidays at the end of July and end of August: Please be mindful of the impact this could have for children missing school for any period of time.

It’s Clean Air Day on 19th June 2025. Air pollution affects your health from before your first breath until you last. It’s linked to a range of health issues throughout life – from premature birth and effects on organ development in childhood, through to heart and lung disease, diabetes and strokes in adulthood. By cleaning up our air, we can all benefit from immediate and long-term health benefits, and help future generations live happier, healthier lives.
What can you do?
Try active travel - walk, wheel or cycle whenever you can rather than driving, being in a car stuck in traffic can expose you and those around you to more pollution.
Benefits of active travel include:
• Producing little or no air pollution
• Getting more exercise - which are good for your physical and mental health
• Avoiding traffic jams
• Reducing your carbon footprint to help to tackle climate change
• Saving you money and discovering more of your local area
This small change can significantly reduce air pollution around school gates.
The annual schools prize gives five schools across the UK and Ireland the chance to win £1,000 in National Book Tokens so they can fill their library shelves with new books. Please ask friends and family to nominate our school using this link : https://www.nationalbooktokens.com you'll also win a £100 National Book Token.
You can also scan the QR code at the school entrance.
Have you ever made a paper boat and floated it down a stream or river? This poem about a child doing this was written by a very famous poet who came from the Bengal region of India. A “shiuli flower” is beautiful and fragrant and popular in Bengal. “Lading” at the end is another word for cargo.
