Weekly Newsletter
Monday 15th April 2024
Dear Parents and Carers, It is lovely to welcome the children back for the Summer Term. They have returned relaxed, refreshed and ready to learn. All the staff have been impressed with the children’s attitudes to learning on the first day back.
Please look out for your child's curriculum letter over the next week. This will have information relating to what your child will be learning across the curriculum this term. If you have any questions or queries about this please speak to the class teacher.
Thank you to those who completed the Heritage Survey before the End of Term. We will be having a Heritage Week beginning Monday 17th June, ending with a celebration event on Friday 21st June. More information will follow soon.
It is important that all the children take part in their weekly PE sessions. Please ensure that PE kits are worn on the timetabled days for your child’s class and they have suitable footwear. All children will take part in the lessons unless we receive written notification that they are unable to due to medical reasons.
We have an increasing number of children wearing trainers and not school shoes. Please remember that school shoes should always be worn unless it is a PE day or the class teacher has requested this.
Attendance has been excellent for most children. We will be closely monitoring the number of days children are not in school and contacting parents when attendance is a concern. Most children should routinely have an attendance rate of 97% or more, which is the equivalent of 6 days absence a year. Please consider attendance if you are thinking of booking a holiday during term time. Where attendance is lower than expected we will be arranging meetings this term with parents to discuss how we can support you and your child.
Not long now until the PTA ThornFest. Just a reminder that it is on Saturday 11th May. Check the PTA board for more information. If you think you would be able to help out on the day, even if it's to help set up and tidy away it would be much appreciated.
If you are interested in becoming a teacher then BSITT (Bishops Stortford Initial Teacher Training) are running an event at Leventhorpe School on Tuesday 23rd April from 6pm to 7pm to share with you how you could start your teaching journey.
Family Lives are delivering 4 Online (via MS Teams) parenting groups, funded by Herts County Council this term for targeted parents/carers who live in Hertfordshire or who have children attending a Hertfordshire school. All the programmes provide support, information and resources to parents/carers and other adult family members so they can help their child reach their full potential.
