Dear Parents and Carers,
This week is the last full week of term as the children finish at 1:30pm next Wednesday (23rd July). Once again we have a busy week and this includes the the PTA Colour Run on Thursday and the Year 6 Leavers Assembly on Friday.
If you haven't already done so, please sign your child up for the Colour Run through their class rep. The PTA are asking for a suggested minimum amount of £5 which can be made by clicking on the link: https://wonderful.org/fundraisers/7wOlm
Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. In the interclass competition, Year 3 are in the lead having raised over £300 but Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 4 are all nipping at their heels! The PTA will be handing out prizes to our fundraising heroes after the races. Keep up the good work everyone: we aim to be able to fully fund the design and build of the new school library after this event.
The races will be on the main field and will be staggered between 5pm and 7pm this Thursday. Children should wear old, white clothing that they don't mind getting ruined! Safety goggles will be provided. The PTA will put on the Bar, BBQ and Sweets Stall and there will also be an ice-cream van. We hope to see you all there.
You will have seen a letter, which was sent out on Friday regarding children and mobile phones. All the local schools are in agreement that children would benefit from a "Smartphone-Free Childhood". We appreciate that many parents will not agree, however all we ask is that you read the letter and think about what is right for your child.
The DSPL3 (Delivering Special Provision Locally) website is full of helpful information for families. DSPL3 want to increase awareness of the support and services that are available and make it easier for SEND families to access the support they may need. There are details of free upcoming training courses and workshops, EBSA (Emotion Based School Avoidance) information if your child is struggling to attend school, SEND parent coffee mornings, Service Directories, how to contact them, and much more.
Please refrain from using your mobile phones on the school site unless this is absolutely necessary. We often see parents with phones in hand at the beginning and end of the day. Think of the message this sends your children. Our school has signs all over the site "No mobile phone zone-Greet your child with a smile, not a mobile". We are sure the children would appreciate this too.

We are taking part in the National Read-Aloud Challenge 2025, powered by Fonetti
Throughout the challenge, children engage in independent reading using Fonetti, the read-aloud app. The goal is to enhance reading skills during the summer break, aiming to prevent the typical 'summer slump' while fostering a genuine passion for reading.
During the challenge period, you will receive weekly updates on the children's reading progress.
They will earn certificates for reaching the various milestones and have the opportunity to compete on national leaderboard alongside children both locally and nationally.
All you need to do is set up profiles using our school's custom
URL or by scanning the QR code above and your child(ren) will be ready to take part in this exciting challenge as soon as it opens on the lst July.
During the challenge, our pupils will join the school team aiming to read as many books as possible.
