Dear Parents and Carers,
Thornfest was fantastic! Sunshine, music and lots of fun. Thank you to our wonderful PTA for organising the event. We are so lucky the team are so dedicated and selfless to make sure that the event ran this year. If you do know someone who helped out please pass on our thanks. Without the PTA there would be no events for the children to enjoy. Also thank you to the Harlow Rock School and Mr Bubbles as well as Bircherley, IT Vet, Golf World, South Mill Arts, Baby Ballers, The Little Arts Workshop, Nockolds, Soccer Development, The Chicken Hatch, Tappy Toes, Football Fun Factory, Fox Cycling, Will Taylor Landscapes, Lucha Libre and Hip Hoppop for sponsoring the event.
This week is Mental Health week. The theme is ‘Movement: Moving more for our mental health’. Moving more is good for our mental health, so what's stopping us? Regular physical activity is known to improve mental health, quality of life, and wellbeing. The children in school will be taking part in some activities this week to promote movement and mental health.
Good luck to our Year 6's this week as they sit their KS2 SATS. They have worked hard throughout the year and we know they will do their best.
We can confirm the timings for our Sports days. They will be held on the following dates and times:
Wednesday 5th June - Key Stage Two at 10am
Wednesday 12th June - Nursery and Reception at 9.30am
Wednesday 12th June - Key Stage One at 10.45am
This year, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two will be competing in their houses for some of the activities. If your child has a t-shirt the colour of their house, it would be lovely if they could wear it. If your child is unsure of what house they are in, please ask your class teacher.
If your child is between the ages of 7-12 years old and they suffer from mild to moderate anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, stress or any other worries please check out Lumi Nova. Lumi Nova Tales of Courage is part of Hertfordshire's Youth digital wellbeing service and is a free therapeutic goal-based game. If you would like to find out more then follow this

Unfortunately, Mrs Jess will be leaving us in July. She has worked at Thorn Grove since September 2008. She has been a fantastic teacher to so many children and is a big part of the PTA and all the wonderful events that run. We will all be incredibly sad to see her leave but after 16 years Mrs Jess is looking for a new challenge.
If you are a photographer or have a love of photography we are looking for someone to take some photos for us. This is to enable us to update our images on our school website. If you're able to help please contact the school office.
