Dear Parents and Carers,
Today marks Remembrance Day. The children observed a two minute silence in their classrooms and we also had a group of our year 6 children perform a poem at the Remembrance Service in town.
The PTA AGM (Annual General Meeting) is on Tuesday 10th December at 6:00pm. This will be at the school and all parents are welcome to attend. To get an idea of numbers, if you are planning on attending can you let a member of the PTA know in advance of the meeting, their email is pta@thorngrove.herts.sch.uk
The next PTA event is the Quiz Night on Friday 6th December at the Belgian Brewer. Everyone is welcome; family and friends so please come along for an enjoyable evening in the lead up to Christmas. Please see the advert below to sign up for tickets.
It is individual & siblings/family photo sittings tomorrow (Tuesday 12th November). If your child has PE please can you make sure that they have their school uniform to change into.
Please check the diary dates for this term. We have Christmas Craft Day, Early Years Nativity, Key Stage 1 Christmas Play and KS2 Carols Around the Tree in December. It will be great to see as many of you in attendance as possible. Look out over the coming weeks for more information about timings of these events.
If you have clothes at home that you want to recycle please use the clothes recycling bin in the car park. The more items collected the more money raised for the school. Please donate any unwanted clothes and textiles when you drop off or pick up your children from school.
Don’t forget that the Food Bank is there for all families who need some help during these incredibly difficult times. As a school we can make a referral on your behalf. Please let us know if this is something you feel would support you.
Thank you to Mrs Smith who has updated our heritage map to show the 44 countries we have links to.
As part of next week's Anti-Bullying Week we will wear odd socks to school on Tuesday 12th November. This is an opportunity for everyone to express themselves and celebrate their individuality. During the week, we will also be signing our annual pledge
Thorn Grove Pledge
We make a commitment to show kindness and respect to everyone as we are all equal, no matter our faith,
our disability, our race, our ethnicity or our heritage.
It is our responsibility to ensure everyone is welcome.
We have the courage not to be a bystander whenever we see prejudice or discrimination. Silence is never an option.
Together Everyone Achieves More
This will be a non-uniform day. If you are able to then we will be collecting donations to raise money for a fantastic cause. You will be able to donate via School Gateway or children can bring donations on the day.
