Dear Parents and Carers,
Wasn't ThornFest great! Sunshine, music and lots of fun. Thank you to our wonderful PTA for organising the event. We are so lucky the team are so dedicated and selfless to make sure that the event ran so well. If you do know someone who helped out please pass on our thanks. Without the PTA there would be no events for the children to enjoy. Also thank you to the Harlow Rock School and all our sponsors and a big thanks to all the helpers (parents and staff) who made it such a success.
Good luck to our Year 6's this week as they sit their KS2 SATS. They have worked hard throughout the year and we know they will do their best.

Thank you so much for your support of our recent Book Fair. We are delighted to share that, thanks to your generosity, we raised over £1,100.
This fantastic total means the school has earned £561 in rewards to spend on new books. Teachers are excited to choose a range of new titles to share with the children. Your support truly makes a difference, and we are very grateful for everying you do to support the school.
Next Monday (18th May) we will be taking part in Book Fairies, an initiative that encourages children to share the joy of reading with other by "hiding" books inthe local community for other to find and enjoy.
As part of this, children will taken part in a workshop in school where they will preparing a book to be hidden by either drawing a picture or writing a note, adding a book fairy sticker and wrapping the book. They will then either hide the book in the local area with us or take it home to hid with their families.
We have collected a number of books to share but if your child has a book they would like to pass can they please bring it in this week. Also, if you have any books at home that you would be happy to donate, please send them in this week.

It is a style or genre of Balinese gamelan music of Indonesia. Kebyar means "to flare up or burst open", and refers to the explosive changes in tempo and dynamics which are characteristic of the style.

We are excited to let you know that we will be celebrating Heritage Week again this year. This is a great opportunity for the children to share, learn about, and celebrate the rich diversity of cultures and backgrounds within our school community.
Heritage Week will take place from Monday 15th to Friday 19th June, culminating in a celebration of foods from around the world in the school hall on Friday afternoon.
We would also like to celebrate our children’s home languages by sharing poems, songs, or stories. This can be something short and simple and shared with support from home if needed.
We would like parents and carers to get involved. If you would like to:
Provide a dish for the food celebration, and/or
Share a poem, song, or story in your home language, and/or
Share any ideas
please complete this short form or email jilley@thorngrove.herts.sch.uk
Thank you to those who have already completed the form. We will provide more information shortly.
