Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you to the parents who were able to come in last Friday for the Reading Café. It was very popular and it was lovely to see so many of you attend. On Thursday there were some fantastic costumes and the children had a great World Book Day.
The football team unfortunately lost to Summercroft and Northgate last week. The team played incredibly well and were unlucky in both games. They play Windhill this week.
If your child has special educational needs and you are looking for support and guidance, then please visit the DSPL3 (Delivering Special Needs Locally) website (dspl3.org.uk). Here you will find useful training courses and workshops. DSPL3 provide a range of courses for parents and carers on topics such as autism, dyslexia and anxiety, amongst others. They also hold coffee mornings for parents and carers of children with SEND. They are relaxed and supportive meetings designed to offer valuable information and networking opportunities. The next meeting is being held at Windhill21 on Wednesday 19th March at 10am.
Red Nose Day is on Friday 21st March. Comic Relief is able to support amazing projects and organisations who are making a difference for people across the UK and around the world. Donations are gratefully received and pupils can donate on the day or via the payment schedule on Schoolcomms which is available now. www.schoolgateway.com
On Friday 28th March we will be hosting a Great Athletes Event. We have a Commonwealth Gymnastics Gold medalist, Steven Frew, coming in. He will be sharing his sporting journey and the children will take part in a sponsored fitness circuit. Please look out for sponsorship forms which will be going out on Friday (14th March). The money raised will help us to purchase new sports equipment and improve levels of physical activity at Thorn Grove.
Please be mindful of what you write on Parent WhatsApp groups. The group should be for information sharing only. Please be respectful of each other and each other's children.

It's not too late for donations. Weather permitting, the reading ambassadors will be selling pre-loved books at the front of the school from 3:10 and in the Music Room during lunchtime.
We are taking part again in the Eat Them to Defeat Them campaign which encourages kids to eat more veg. The children will be bringing home their own mission pack to get started at home and also be receiving stickers for eating veg in school.
We would like to celebrate how children show these skills outside of school. Please bring in photos or email jlilley@thorngrove.herts.sch.uk to add to our display board. For more information on these skills and how you can access Skills Builder Homezone see our information sheet
