Purchasing

• • Purchasing of the laptops is all handled by Learning With Technologies(LWT) or JB HiFi Education(JB Edu), based on your preferrence.

  • The school receives no financial gain from your purchase.

  • The school has negotiated appropriate devices at competive pricing & warranties for the benifit of the families.

When going over the purchasing options you will notice there are a few extra's that you can choose from.

We strongly recommend all students carry their device in a suitable bag, which can be purchased from a range of retailers.

Laptop Damage and Support

• • In many cases, laptops purchased through Learning With Technologies(LWT) or JB HiFi Education(JB Edu) via the portal, our ICT team at Thornbury High School may be able to assist in diagnosing the issues and asssit the parents to log it with the vendor depending on the situation.

  • If you have purchased a device from another retailer, then you will have to return this device to that retailer for support and warranty claims. Thornbury High School is unfortunately unable to assist you with this process.

FAQs for purchasing a laptop

• Can I purchase a laptop from anywhere else?

Yes, you can purchase a device from another supplier, but we're not able to provide specific device recommendations. 

Minimum requirements are outlined here. 

• Which laptop should be chosen?

We have recommended multiple laptops in different price brackets.  Students intending to study Visual Arts subjects will generally need a more powerful laptop, and the cheaper options provided may not be suitable.

The student environment often leads to a higher number of repairs. When purchased, onsite support at the school greatly reduces frustrations for parents. Getting a retail device repaired usually takes weeks and quite often requires the parent to take time out of their day.

Accidental Damage Protection & Extended Warranty
All the devices have options for Accidental Damage protection with quick repair times. They use manufacturers policies, not third-party products to help guarantee parts availability.

  $100 Lay By Service
  LWT offers a $100 deposit option to secure a device and let you pay much closer to the delivery date.
  36 Month Payment Plans - LWT
  36-month payment plans that are approved online via Latitude or Zip. These plans can help spread the upfront cost for parents.

JB Edu currently accepts Credit Cards, PayPal, Afterpay and Zip payment options for all BYOD purchases.

You can elect to pay by credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express) or Afterpay and Zip payment options are also available during checkout.
