From Newsela:
To help schools and give some degree of certainty during these uncertain times, we are making Newsela’s entire product suite available, free of charge, to all districts and teachers through the end of the school year.
We’re offering this to everyone regardless of whether their schools have closed because preparations can’t wait, and we want you to have certainty about the products available to you as you develop your learning continuity plans. And we won’t turn off free access when schools reopen, because we know that lessons and activities that take place at home during closures need to continue if schools reopen later this spring.
You have two options to initiate complimentary access:
Follow this link, to request access on behalf of all teachers in your district. We’ll set up a brief call within 24 hours to gather information, and turn on free access shortly thereafter.
If you prefer that individual teachers decide whether they want access, simply direct them to https://newsela.com/instant-license/ , and they’ll get access instantly.
Either way, teachers will have free access to Newsela ELA, Newsela Science, Newsela Social Studies, and The Newsela Social-Emotional Learning Collection.
Even during a crisis— especially during a crisis—we must maintain our commitment to equity. With the Newsela Student mobile app, all content and assignment activities are accessible to students, even if they don’t have a computer or a reliable internet connection. And all of our content and assessments are available at five reading levels, so struggling readers can have the same access to content as those on or above grade level.
We’ve also added timely resources that can be accessed via our COVID-19 Resource Center.
