It's Ms. Adams, Mr. Davies, and Ms. Yost. We will all be your humanities teachers this year (Ms. Yost will be in Core 1).
Some of you may have seen your schedule and said what the heck is humanities, and here it is:
Humanities is our new class at Bill Reed Middle School. Ms. Adams, Mr. Davies and Ms. Yost will be co-teaching this course (formally the ELA teachers and Social Studies teachers). Students in this class will be taking a course that blends Social Studies and English Language Arts seamlessly to increase your understanding of the world.
Throughout this year we will study the skills and concepts around:
------Semester One------
Unit one: Civic Change with Informational Speech and Action Proposal (with LISA components). Historical research skills with application to today.
Unit two: Point of View, Viewing our world through other perspectives. Narrative writing with Geographic focus.
-------Semester Two------
Unit three: Political Science with argumentative writing.
Unit four: Economics. Understanding components of personal finance in a changing world.
