Womens’ roles in war are constantly overlooked and undermined, since women have only recently taken to arms and begun fighting alongside men on the battlefield. The truth is that they have been playing a large part in other aspects of the war movement, such as weapon-making and war journalism, since the beginning of time. How does the general disregard of the involvement of women during wars affect the modern perception of women and the quest for gender equality? This workshop will focus on bringing several notable women involved in war to light, while also delving into the stories and secrets that took place behind the scenes of the front lines. After attending this workshop, you will have gained an insight through personalised activities and discussions about womens’ roles during war, and the reasons they are not as prevalent in modern education.
