The Middle Eastern woman has overcome many challenges over the past 100 years and has managed to build a name for herself and establish her place in Arab society. Yet, misogynistic ideals ranging from the 'shy and poised' stereotype to the lack of proper representation and positions of power have rendered her unable to properly embrace her femininity and express individuality. It has led to the unfortunate belief that Islam itself, despite being an extremely liberating religion, is oppressing women due to the suffocating reality that is Arab culture and 'traditions'. Join this workshop to explore and discuss the the shortcomings of our society and how the younger generation is working towards a more enlightened and inclusive future. In the words of George Santayana "Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it"
