Akhlaquna is an award introduced by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation (QF), at QF Convocation 2017, to endorse the idea that knowledge and morality are intertwined, guiding together the prosperity of societies.
The Award highlights universal and inclusive moral values, in the minds of the younger generation. The Akhlaquna Award recognizing those who exemplify great moral character through initiating projects that serve their community and beyond. Our goal is to encourage the adherence to universal moral values that are shared by all cultures.
Akhlaquna aims to create a series of workshops carefully tailored for the youth to provide them with the tools and capabilities to conceive and implement innovative projects that promotes moral values & makes a real difference to their own lives, and their communities.
Moreover, high-school students make up a significant portion of the total youth that apply for the Akhlaquna Award, therefore, in these workshops we will ensure that students receive the right guidance and support to come up with solid projects, which can be submitted for the award. In short, we celebrate youthful project owners and support their efforts to take their projects one step further!
Alaa Elobaid is currently the outreach specialist at the Akhlaquna Award, an Award launched by Qatar foundation. Her main focus is building the Akhlaquna network around Qatar, through managing the ambassadors program, schools visits.
Moreover, Elobaid co-hosts and manages the Akhlaquna workshop series targeted at high school students providing them with the tools to conceive and implement projects & initiatives that aim to serve their communities. Elobaid also manages the Akhlaquna Ambassador program which includes a select number of high achieving students from universities and high schools.
Elobaid is of Sudanese origins and was born and raised in Qatar, which gave her a deep understanding of the local culture and challenges that the youth face. In addition, her line of work has provided her with the right tools to support in endorsing the importance of morality through education. Elobaid holds a bachelor degree in English literature and Linguistics. Her background in linguistics gives her a greater understanding of the fundamental part of the basics of human communication. Elobaid aims to continue working with organizations that support youth individuals to seek out change.
Omar S. Khawaja is the Founder and Executive Director at Little Big Kids, a children's media company based in Washington D.C. Khawaja is also the author and creator of the popular "Ilyas & Duck" children's book series. His children's books can be found at retailers around the world including the children's gift shop at the National Museum of Qatar.
Additionally, Khawaja is a business consultant and creative contributor with several Qatar based organizations including Qatar Reads, Akhlaquna Award, Qatar Museums, and the Education City Mosque.
Prior to his business ventures, Khawaja's professional career included manufacturing and product development at The Estee Lauder Companies in New York City and Financial Risk Management at KPMG Advisory in Washington D.C.
Khawaja was born in Saudi Arabia, grew up in New York, started a family Washington D.C., and is now living and growing businesses in Qatar.
Khawaja holds a Master's degree in International Affairs from Columbia University in New York, a Bachelor's degree in Business from Hofstra University.
Sereen K. Fayoumi is the engagement specialist at the Akhlaquna Award, an Award launched by Qatar foundation. In addition to supervising the Award’s student based program and the engagement platforms, Fayoumi co-hosts the Akhlaquna workshop series aimed at polishing and developing the skills of young learners providing them with the tools and capabilities to conceive and implement projects & initiatives that aim to serve their communities.
Fayoumi was born in Jordan and is of Palestinian origins, whose experience of growing up in Qatar has provided her with a cosmopolitan world view. Fayoumi is passionate about social and humanitarian projects, which aim at reforming the status-qua and tackling challenges regarding gender inclusivity, inclusivity of disenfranchised people, to name a few.
Fayoumi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering but her passion for the humanities has led her to currently pursue a Master's degree in Digital Humanities and Societies at Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar.
