My PhD research seeks to understand how CLTs build trust, belonging, and power, particularly in communities of color and historically disinvested neighborhoods. I research alongside resident researchers, CLT organizers, local students, and community partners in my hometown of Memphis, TN. In conversation with community land trusts across the country, our work is exploring the impact of an emerging CLT in Klondike, the first neighborhood historically designed for Black homeowners in Memphis's city limits.
Outreach to recruit resident researchers, funded for their time, who shape the research goals and data collection (with Zoë Dominguez and Diamond Thompson-Smith).
Accessible materials to share the goals, purpose, and structure of the CLT with residents (with Zoë Dominguez).
Mapping tools for the CLT to locate properties transferred from the County land bank to CLT partners, identify green spaces, and pinpoint community resource centers.
