Welcome to The Americus Podcast. My name is John Schroeder. I am new to the area and am thrilled to share with you a brand new podcast about neighboring well together! I am convinced that being a good neighbor starts with learning the names and the defining moments of the people around us. I love asking questions that open up the stories and hopes of people like you who live here in Americus, GA. And I love finding ways for us to take risks together in order to love and serve the cities we find ourselves in.  

On this podcast, The Americus Podcast, you will hear from our city officials, hometown heroes, leaders, and our everyday neighbors taking risks, small and large, to love and serve their city. Together we are forming and telling the story of our city. What do our neighbors value, what should we preserve from our city’s past, and what we should change as we move into the future? What can one neighbor do to be part of that much larger story of a city?  Whether we agree or disagree, we can still be neighbors, and good neighbors at that! This podcast's goal is simple: to remind ourselves how to work through personal and collective obstacles in order to hope once again! There is so much good to celebrate, so much to learn from one another. There is good work to be done with people right next door.
