Medium(s): clay, green foam block, carving tools, gesso, acrylic paint
At first I wanted to make a tree for this project and have the branches of the tree reaching out and abstract-like, but then that made me think of a hand, with fingers reaching out. I definitely thought forming the hand on the clay was much easier, than creating it on the foam. For the clay, I was able to form each finger individually and then attach it to the hand, although on the foam I could not. I think this turned out very well at the end because a hand is very hard to make and this hand looks very realistic. I would like to improve on blending different paint colors to make a more blended gradient. I made the mistake of drying one color and then going in again with the dark color, which didn’t blend well. Over all, I like how this turned out and am proud of it.
