School Counseling at Villa is based on the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) framework for a comprehensive program. The Counseling program is divided into four main components: school counseling curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services, and system support.
The school counseling curriculum involves classroom guidance (SEL), parent/community workshops, and small group interventions.
Individual student planning involves working with students and their families to reduce barriers that may inhibit academic or social/emotional development. This includes: student observation and planning, team meetings, and data analysis.
Responsive services address student's direct, immediate concerns and include counseling, consultation and referral.
Finally, the system support component enables the school counseling program to be effective through a variety of support activities including professional development, consultation, collaboration, teaming, program audits/management.
