What does a typical day of Dance Team look like for an On Broadway Dancer?
Starts with technique work and warm-up
Followed by several different choreography blocks of varying lengths (these will be determined in a set schedule that will be released on a month to month basis)
Dancers are encouraged to eat snacks and mingle with friends if they happen to have a break for one choreography block
At the end of the rehearsal, we may have a block of time to run through all the dances/choreography in order to review to conclude rehearsal
What types of performances do the On Broadway Dancers participate in?
Fundraiser Performances
These are shows put on by other organizations that our Dance Team participates in (other dance studios in the area also perform at these events)
All the proceeds from the event go to specific charitable organizations
Examples
Move for the Movement in January
Dancers at Heart in February
Dance Team Showcase (formerly known as Dinner Show)
Our dancers will showcase all the choreography they have been working on throughout the year
Dance Place Recital
Certain dances may be performed at our annual recitals
Competition
Dancers are taken to competition as an additional performance opportunity and an opportunity to receive feedback on their dancing to continue to improve on their technique and other dance skills
What do I do if I/my dancer cannot attend Dance Team one day (or has to leave early/arrive late)?
Fill out this form to inform us when your dancer will not be able to attend
We will have a Google Drive with folders for each dance where choreographers can upload videos in order for all dancers to remain up to date on their choreography!
Can I/my dancer bring a snack/water to Dance Team rehearsal?
Dancers are allowed to bring snacks to have during breaks.
All dancers are encouraged to bring water to every Dance Team rehearsal in order to allow for adequate hydration during our 3 hour rehearsals.
What is a Buddy/On Broadway Buddy?
All of our dancers are paired up with a different dancer on the same day of Dance Team from a different grade than them
Dancers are encouraged to get to know their buddies, write their buddy a birthday card, and do certain planned activities with their buddy throughout the year in order to allow for greater bonding of our team
