I wish i had more info on this one. The customer said a friend of his built this one for him and has since built multiple guitars. This was one of his first. This guitar definitely had character with the few flaws in the constructions and finish, but as far as playability and sound it was top notch. The Customer wanted to change string gauge and get the instrument set up.
The nut was in desperate need of filing . The slots were cut to the proper depth it just had to much meat left on it. This can cause tuning stability issues with the string binding in the slot.
The tuners were really tight to turn and had some corrosion on them.
The pickups were mounted with the incorrect screws (left) so I replaced them with the correct ones (right).
I marked the nut where it needed to be filed down to and taped off the board so i dont mark it with my files.
After I filed it polished it and put some fretboard conditioner on the board around it.
A better shot of the newly filed nut.
I lubricated all the strings contact points.
I oiled the machine heads.
Polished the frets.
The after shot of the new nut with strings on.
