This was the 95th guitar made in this line. The solid wood series guitar made by Godin guitars. These seagulls are awesome guitars for the price!! This one came in for a re fret. The frets were super low and worn out.
The frets were already past the point of needed to be replaced before the divots were worn into them.
All the frets in the "cowboy chords" section were in pretty bad shape.
Under the nut was a ton of glue that would need to be removed before the new nut would seat properly.
The guitar had 3 dings in the finish that I wanted to seal up to keep them from getting worse.
The old frets out.
The board after removing the frets.
Cleaning up and re doing the radius of the fingerboard.
Using a fret buck to install the new frets.
The new frets installed.
I set this up in my neck jig to level the frets with simulated string tension.
I created some fallaway on the last few frets by placing tape on the 12th fret. This allows my sanding beam to only hit the last few frets. This give it some extra room for the string oscillation.
The last step is to make sure the frets are radiused properly.
The little blue line left after i crown the frets.
Cutting the .010 thou starter nut slots.
The finished nut
Marking the top of the saddle to intonate it. The pencil shows me exactly where the top lies. Once its on the guitar I can dial in the intonation better.
