Pickups: Pickups were changed out for a set of Fender American pure vintage '59s
Made in the 90's in Korea this guitar came from the very short run of Korean made Squires where they put Fender as the predominant logo and only had a small sticker to let you know this is a Squire. The quality of this guitar is way above what I would consider a Squire Quality guitar. Once the pickups and electronics were changed out the playability and sound on this one were out of the world.
All the hardware on this one was in pretty ruff shape
The ground wire to the bridge was not soldered in place.
The original pickups that were in this guitar
At first I thought it had a bad pot but after checking i saw that it was just wired in the wrong place. This wasn't from the factory but from a previous repair of some type.
Checking to see if this is shielding paint. This is just black paint no shielding.
You can see the difference in polished and un polished.
Before I disassembled the machine heads to clean and polish them.
They cleaned up pretty nice.
There were a lot of marks on the finish. Most of them were able to be removed with some naptha.
Checking for high or low frets.
I re crowned all the frets on this guitar. This is the little line left after I re crowned.
The cleaned up, set up guitar ready to go.
