The English Baccalaureate
The Government believes that schools should offer students a broad range of academic subjects to age 16, and the English Baccalaureate promotes that aspiration.
The English Baccalaureate is not a qualification in itself. It is achievements across a core of selected academic subjects in getting good passes in rigorous GCSEs. The English Baccalaureate covers achievement in English, mathematics, at least two sciences, a language and a humanities subject. The Government is promoting the English Baccalaureate subjects as it sees success within these subjects lays a firm foundation for further progression in a wide range of areas.
At The Roseland Academy, students already qualify for the English, Maths and Science elements of the English Baccalaureate through the Core curriculum. To complete the suite, students must chose a Humanities (Geography or History) and a MFL (French or Spanish), as two of their choices.
