HISTORY
The Rose Well House is a monument located in the Dunn Woods of Bloomington, Indiana. The Dunn Woods is a location at the IU campus. Before it became a dear monument to the citizens of Bloomington and most especially the students and former students of IU,it was a water source for the students and teachers on campus. During the year 1900, The roof of the beloved Wylie House caught on fire. The water from the pump was used to put it out. Around 8 years later it transitioned from being a water pump to being the gazebo known today as the Rose Well House. The Rose Well House was built and funded in 1908 by Theodore. F.Rose who was an alumnus of IU. Theodore dedicated the structure to his graduating class. After both helping the building process and funding the beautiful gazebo structure, they decided to name it the Rose Well House in his honor. The Rose Well House was Designed and drawn out by A.F. Foley. He was a professor of the physics department. The structure was inspired by the colorful fraternity pin that he often wore.
