Carlos Reynosa began his career in the arts as a young man working as an actor and model in California, New York, and Europe. He has been featured in major magazines and appeared in film early in his career.
Working as a model, Carlos was used to being in front of the camera, but his talent and vision soon moved him behind it. His first major break as a photographer led to work with a long list of respected American and European publications.
As a professional photographer, Carlos launched a modeling agency in Los Angeles and helped develop the early careers of several now-famous performers. He has photographed a wide range of notable actors, musicians, and public figures.
Carlos’ success in modeling and photography allowed him to focus his attention on another lifelong passion—music. Influenced by his father and inspired by the power of song, he began writing music at a young age and eventually formed several bands throughout the 1980s.
In 1993, he began recording his own material, creating work that reflected a deep sense of spirituality and artistic intention. His first album was released in 1996 to positive reception, leading to extensive touring throughout the Southwest.
With his first album completed, Carlos ventured into directing, producing music videos for his own songs and launching a half-hour television series that showcased his creativity both in front of and behind the camera.
Carlos’ work as a photographer and videographer naturally evolved into producing cultural and educational programs. His projects included work supporting Native American youth, promoting positive values, self-esteem, and cultural pride through music and storytelling.
As the new millennium unfolded, Carlos expanded his musical catalog, contributing to award-winning soundtracks alongside some of the most respected names in contemporary and traditional music. His releases during this time showcased both his lyrical songwriting and his growing mastery of the Native American flute.
In 2001, he released a pair of companion albums—one featuring vocal material and another dedicated entirely to flute compositions. This marked a new chapter in his musical journey, with the flute becoming one of his most expressive and recognized artistic voices.
In 2003, Carlos released his first all-flute album, a collection of calming, meditative pieces performed on a variety of flutes. Each track highlighted his ability to bring out the unique character and spirit of each instrument.
A subsequent release marked a new beginning, influenced by the birth of his son and recorded in his mountain home. This album bridged his contemporary folk style with the natural simplicity and emotional resonance of his flute work.
Carlos’ creative versatility continued as he contributed music to documentary projects and produced visual work that highlighted Indigenous artists and cultural voices. His photographic series focusing on Indigenous celebrities and models stands as one of his most personally meaningful accomplishments.
Carlos is proud of his diverse heritage, which includes Cherokee, Yaqui, Mexica, Irish, French, and German roots. This cultural richness, combined with extensive international travel, deeply informs his music, imagery, and storytelling.
Working always with passion and persistence, Carlos has built a career that crosses artistic boundaries. His range of accomplishments and dedication to craft truly make him a modern-day renaissance man.
