About Us
Where Passion Meets Purpose
Founded by a Wellington-born Cambodian New Zealander, The People Studio Ltd was built on a deep belief that work should create opportunity — not barriers.
Our Director began his journey in the agriculture and labour-hire sector in Melbourne, working alongside farmers, orchard owners, and skilled tradespeople. Nearly 20 years later, he continues to travel between Auckland and Melbourne, bringing together diverse communities, employers, and investors who share a common goal: success through integrity.
From his Cambodian roots to his Kiwi upbringing, his story is about giving back — especially to the Southeast Asian community that has worked hard to build new lives in New Zealand and Australia.
“I’ve seen how opportunity changes lives. Now, I want to open those doors for others.”
— Chad Lorn, The People Studio Ltd

1. What does The People Studio Ltd do?
We’re a recruitment and business-support consultancy based in Auckland.
We help skilled migrants and business investors connect with genuine employment, business, and investment opportunities across New Zealand.
We also work closely with licensed migration advisers who handle visa and immigration matters, ensuring everything stays compliant with New Zealand law.
2. Are you a licensed immigration adviser?
No — The People Studio Ltd does not give immigration advice.
We partner with licensed New Zealand immigration advisers (LIAs) who handle all visa eligibility assessments and lodgements.
Our role is to assist with employment matching, business acquisition support, and settlement assistance once a migration pathway is confirmed.
3. What industries do you recruit for?
We focus on key sectors with genuine skill shortages, including:
Construction and infrastructure
Manufacturing and engineering
Healthcare and aged care
Logistics and transport
Hospitality and tourism
Horticulture, orchards, and vineyards
4. How does The People Studio help business visa applicants?
We assist Entrepreneur and Investor Visa clients by identifying small-to-medium businesses that are available for sale and suitable for investment.
We can coordinate due diligence, connect clients with accountants, business brokers, and lawyers, and help develop a New Zealand-based business plan to complement their visa application.
5. How is The People Studio different from other recruitment firms?
We combine Australian labour-hire experience (almost 20 years) with a deep understanding of New Zealand’s local industries.
Our Director’s unique background — born in Wellington, raised with Cambodian values, and experienced across Melbourne and Auckland — brings a culturally aware, ethical, and relationship-driven approach to every client we serve.
6. Do you charge job seekers a fee?
No.
For employment placements, job seekers are never charged any recruitment or placement fee.
We are paid by the employer once the placement is successful.
For business purchase or investor-related services, separate consultancy fees may apply and are always disclosed upfront.
7. I’m an employer. How can The People Studio help me?
We help accredited employers source reliable, skilled staff locally and overseas.
We can manage recruitment, candidate screening, and coordination with licensed immigration advisers for visa support.
We also ensure your hires meet INZ wage and sector-agreement requirements.
8. I’m a migrant worker already in New Zealand — can you help me find a new job?
Yes, we can.
If you hold an open work visa or are eligible to change employers, we can help you find a role with an accredited employer that aligns with your visa conditions and skills.
9. I’m overseas and want to work in New Zealand. What should I do first?
Start by booking an eligibility consultation with our partner migration adviser.
They’ll assess your visa options and, once approved, we’ll assist with job matching or business opportunities suitable for your profile.
10. Does The People Studio have connections in Australia too?
Yes.
Our Director has operated in the Melbourne labour-hire industry for nearly 20 years and maintains partnerships with Australian employers and consultants.
This allows us to support clients who are interested in both New Zealand and Australian employment or investment pathways.
11. Do you work with Southeast Asian communities?
Absolutely.
Our Director was born in Cambodia and is passionate about supporting the Southeast Asian community — helping individuals and families find safe, fair, and meaningful work opportunities that create lasting futures.
