Cathy Velez is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Connecticut who is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and collaborative space for every client she works with. She earned both her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her Master of Social Work from the University of Connecticut.
Cathy brings a broad range of clinical experience, having worked with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults across multiple levels of care. Her background includes in‑home and community‑based services, individual and family therapy, and clinical work within an inpatient setting. She has gained valuable experience through roles in elderly protective services, in‑home family therapy, and individual outpatient therapy, allowing her to support clients through a wide variety of life challenges and transitions.
Cathy is trained in Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) and MATCH‑ADTC (Modular Approach to Treating Children—Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, and Conduct). She uses a client‑centered, compassionate, and empathetic approach, meeting clients exactly where they are and helping them move toward meaningful, sustainable progress. Building trusting relationships is at the heart of her work, as she believes that a strong therapeutic connection is essential for healing and growth.
Outside of her clinical work, Cathy enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and exploring new places. She loves being outdoors—soaking up the sun, breathing in fresh air, and connecting with nature. Cathy also finds joy in painting and other creative, hands‑on projects that allow her to express herself artistically.
