You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you. This is known as a Subject Access Request (SAR), and it's your right under UK data protection law.

We take care to protect everyone's privacy. Where our records mention other people, we may need to remove or redact their information before sending your file to you. We'll always send your information securely.

How we handle your SAR
If you're asking for information on behalf of someone else — for example as a family member, advocate, solicitor or case manager — we'll need to see evidence of your authority to act for them before we can release anything. The SAR form will guide you through this.
Once we've received your request and confirmed your identity, we'll gather the information you've asked for and respond within one calendar month. If your request is particularly complex, we may need a little longer — up to two further months — and we'll let you know within the first month if that's the case. There is no charge for making a request.
