Voices of the South End

In the run up to the August 31 parade date, the paper filmed this interview with Orville Abrahams, who organized the parade. Bridging Arbor Hill and the South End, the African Heritage Parade was the first parade to connect both of these communities, and traveled through several beautiful neighborhoods that had never previously had parades come through. As Abrahams states, the parade was just the first step of a larger initiative; to learn more about that, visit the Capital District African Heritage Consortium online.
