The fieldwork takes place at Swanage Bay and there is parking available here: BH19 2BB
Once at the fieldwork location, students are to head to the beach and collect the data for the physical fieldwork enquiry. Students should complete the risk assessment table on page 6 of the fieldwork booklet and write down strategies on how to reduce these risks.
Data collection method: Groyne drop (tutorial video). Students are to measure the north and south side of each groyne at the 5th post from the land. Data should be recorded onto page 7 of the fieldwork booklet. There are 18 groynes in total and the number painted of each of the groynes corresponds withe the groyne number on the data table on page 7.
Students should then write up the 6-step methodology on page 8 on how to complete the groyne drop.
If students are completing the fieldwork virtually, see the instructions below:
Students should visit the Google Map streetview site here. Students should move the streetview north up the promenade, away from the town. Whilst doing this, students should complete the risk assessment table on page 6 of the fieldwork booklet and write down strategies on how to reduce these risks.
Data collection method: Groyne drop (tutorial video). Students should then use the data available here and transfer this onto page 7 of their fieldwork booklet.
Students should then write up the 6-step methodology on page 8 on how to complete the groyne drop.

The fieldwork takes place at Swanage Bay and there is parking available here: BH19 2BB
Once at the fieldwork location, students will need to head to Fish Plaice (14 The Sq, Swanage BH19 2LJ). Whislt students are moving through the town, they should complete the risk assessment table on page 16 of the fieldwork booklet and write down strategies on how to reduce these risks.
Data collection method: Landuse survey.
Students need to complete pate 18 and 19 of their fieldwork booklets. An example of how to complete this is here. Fish Plaice is #1 on landuse map. Students need to categorise the businesses into the following categories:
Food and drink
Accommodation
Retail
Entertainment
Other
Fish Plaice (#1) would be categorised as "food and drink" and this is what students should write next to #1 on page 19. Students should then follow the map around the rest of Zone 1 and record the land uses for buildings 1 - 25. Students should then choose 2 other zones to complete.
Students should then write up the 6-step methodology on page 20 on how to complete the land use survey.
If students are completing the fieldwork virtually, see the instructions below:

Students should use Google Streetview to complete the land use survey to the best of their abilities. Students need to complete pate 18 and 19 of their fieldwork booklets. Fish Plaice is #1 on landuse map. Students need to categorise the businesses into the following categories:

Accommodation
Retail
Entertainment
Other
Fish Plaice (#1) would be categorised as "food and drink" and this is what students should write next to #1 on page 19.
