Jonathan (he/him) is a neurodivergent screenwriter (Lion's Head Studio), voice actor, published short story author, and former scientist and professor who draws upon his years of teaching experience to enhance the art of his storytelling.
Like many neurodivergent individuals, Jonathan uses fiction to communicate the more ineffable aspects of life experiences, and to him, Western storytelling conventions are like a second language that he speaks with native fluency.
As a screenwriter, over the years, he kept seeing the same two or three pilots featured for teaching tools of the trade in freely available resources. Thankfully, this trend is starting to change, but to help that change along, he created the Binge-Worthy Writing Podcast and is excited to offer an alternative for analyzing and learning from scripts from many different properties.
Jonathan’s works usually feature characters with a double identity or a struggle to make peace with part of themselves. As a late-(self) diagnosed autistic person, he knows what it’s like to go through life with an internal tug-of-war about whether to “blend in” or to “be yourself,” and he identifies with stories that explore similar dynamics.
Jonathan’s preferred genres are mostly speculative fiction (fantasy, science fiction, horror, urban fantasy, etc.); however, he’s written mystery, comedy, and any other experimental meta-narratives that strike his fancy. He’s also a published poet, and he’s working on adapting several IPs into rap musicals.
Jackie (she/her) connects to authentic stories that honestly portray life's messiness. To that end, she helps writers bring depth to their portrayal of various cultural, societal, and medical narratives, including intersectional identities (e.g., immigrant/first-generation experience; mental health, neuroinclusion, disability).
As someone who identifies as having ADHD (late diagnosis) and mental health challenges, she offers lived and professional experience in both her creative endeavors and clinical work as a medical doctor and mindfulness instructor.
Her love of travel inspired becoming a learner of Portuguese and Italian, to add to her native tongues (Latin American Spanish and North American English). She's navigated various cultures through lived experience, international research, and academic work spanning many cultures (Nicaraguan, Cape Verdean, Latinx, and Portuguese), mental health, and public health.
As part of Lion's Head Studios, she leverages her experience in program management, implementation science, web design, and graphic design to facilitate script development, interdepartmental collaboration, and administrative pre-production operations. She's really excited about the studio's new project: Bingeworthy Writing Podcast and having another reason to nerd-out with Jonathan about stories and how they impact us.
Jackie’s enthusiasm for story and collaboration extends to hobbies including storytelling through tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs), cooperative board games, and community fiber arts poetry projects.
