Ensuring we are curious about behaviour
At The Key we understand that the unproductive behaviour that we observe from pupils is the result of maladaptive neural pathways, repeated and strengthened over time and as described previously, we believe pupils that are exhibiting such unproductive behaviour lack the appropriate tools and skills to do so.
As such, we recognise that at times, we need to look beyond the obvious and superficial explanation for behaviour, away from a child-deficit framework of understanding and utilise psychological principles and understanding to ascertain a rationale and thus work toward an effective solution.
