"... and there is just
so much more"
The Foundry is a welcoming makerspace where students can safely explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Here, they have access to tools and equipment that inspire creativity in design and fabrication. Every THS student will participate in an intensive, age-appropriate week-long program in the Foundry, engaging in hands-on projects that are authentic, community-oriented, and reinforce their classroom curriculum. Additionally, the Foundry offers after-school and enrichment programs aimed at building skills in using tools and equipment.
The Foundry is open to all students, regardless of their skill levels. We encourage collaboration among different age groups and foster an inclusive environment. Student projects will focus on being authentic, community-oriented, sustainable, and aligned with real-world challenges. This approach ensures that every student’s voice is valued and empowers them to make a positive impact.
THS Students learning to solder
At the Foundry, we believe in using creativity to make a positive difference. Students learn by taking on real challenges that help people and strengthen our community. With support from teachers and mentors, they design meaningful projects and share their ideas beyond the classroom. Our goal is to help every young maker grow empathy, think boldly, and work together to create practical, sustainable solutions for the world around them.
Dremeling the details with care
Drilling with caution
Creative cutting with a band saw
The Foundry embraces a hands-on learning approach, applying Design Thinking and Engineering practices to all projects, regardless of grade level. Students will engage in active learning through designing, building, tinkering, and fabricating. We also integrate ISTE assessments to ensure that learning objectives are met effectively. Our focus on “hard fun” means that while learning feels like play, it provides valuable experiences that foster growth and understanding.
