About Me

Hello! My name is Ms. McKinnon, and I serve The GLOBE Academy as the Upper Campus Counselor working with grades 5-8. My mission is to support the students, teachers, and parents/guardians of the GLOBE and create a safe and inclusive environment! I strive to help students build positive relationships with one another and our school community, and become competent self-advocates. As a school counselor, my role consists of meeting with students individually, in small groups, through classroom guidance lessons, and school-wide events. School counselors help all students implement academic achievement strategies, understand and manage emotions, develop social emotional skills, and promote college/career readiness. As a Dekalb Co. counselor, students can be referred, when appropriate, to other services in the DCSD such as psychological services, social services, home-bound instruction, etc. when necessary.
