Come be a part of history as we commemorate 70 years since the groundbreaking Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision, which outlawed segregation in public schools

This May, The Future is US invites you to join our community celebration honoring this landmark ruling and the individuals and organizations that have paved the way for equality and equity in education. We'll dance, eat, celebrate the historic significance of Brown V. Board while honoring the individuals who have committed themselves to a more equitable community.

This year's inaugural honorees are:

Sue Johnson, The Scull-Fedford Family, Galveston’s NAACP, and Tammie Campbell.


Each honoree will receive The Future is US Education Justice Warrior Award for their histories of fighting for equal rights, within Galveston schools and beyond.

When deciding Brown v. Board of Education, ALL 9 Justices agreed and unanimously decided that separate could not be equal. Through their working together and understanding the needs of the community, the Justices changed history. This type of unification for community is what The Future is US believes in - that through the power of community voice and togetherness, great change will happen. We hope to see you there!
