Do You Have a Child with Dyslexia Who Has Attended a Traditional Public or Private School Before Enrolling at Fletcher?
Your experiences navigating educational systems matter—and understanding those experiences could help transform how schools support families like yours.
Laura Steinbach, the Head of School at Rawson Saunders in Austin, Texas, and a doctoral student at Texas State University, is conducting research to better understand the lived experiences of parents as they support their child or children with dyslexia through different educational settings.
If you choose to participate, you will complete a brief online survey (approximately 15 minutes) and an individual interview with Laura via Zoom (45-60 minutes).
All participation is completely voluntary and confidential.
If you are ready to participate or have any questions, contact Laura Steinbach by email at lsteinbach@rawsonsaunders.org or by phone 512-922-2811.

Raising Robot-Proof Children
When AI can answer almost any question, what skills actually matter for our children’s future? Neuroscientist Vivienne Ming argues that we need to move away from memorization and "teaching to the test."
Instead, she suggests three strategies to help kids thrive in a world of automation: Create a "Failure Resume," engineer serendipity, and be the "Chief AI Critic."
Check out the full article for more details about these strategies and other practical tips on how to foster the creativity and resilience that no machine can replace.

NC Opportunity Scholarship & ESA+
2026-2027 Awards:
New Awards: The Opportunity Scholarship Program sent notifications to eligible new students on applications received during the priority application period (February 2-March 2, 2026) for a 2026-2027 award. These families have until April 17, 2026, to respond to their award offer in MyPortal. New student award offers will be canceled if they are not accepted by this deadline. Families can find more information about how to accept or decline an award on the Awarding Process page of the NCSEAA website.
Families who applied for the Education Student Accounts (ESA+) program will be notified by the end of April.
The new student application remains open, and applications received after the priority period will be considered in the order applications were submitted as funds are available.
Award Renewals: Students who used scholarship funding the previous fall semester should have already received an offer to renew their scholarship. Families have until April 15 to respond to their renewal award offer. Be sure to check your notifications in MyPortal weekly and respond to required tasks by the deadline so as not to lose the scholarship funding.
If your student received scholarship funding for the spring semester only, then you will receive an offer to renew your student’s scholarship later in the semester.
