Join Fletcher's Team for the Virtual Dyslexia Dash
The Fletcher School is participating in the Virtual Dyslexia Dash 2023 as part of National Dyslexia Awareness Month. Join Fletcher's Virtual Team and register here. The password is: Falcons2023
Virtual race participants will run or walk their own course and can post their times via the Dyslexia Dash website if they wish. As soon as you register, you can run or walk the race. Virtual participants will receive their race t-shirts through the mail the week of October 23.

Join Us for a Screening of Blame It On Gutenberg & Panel Discussion
Join The Fletcher School and IDA NC for a screening of the documentary Blame It On Gutenberg on Saturday, November 4, at 9 am, at the Independent Picture House.
Blame It On Gutenberg is a powerful film about the evolving science of Dyslexia, theories of how to teach reading, and one family’s struggle with their school system.
A panel discussion will follow including the Filmmaker and Producer, Rob DelGaudio, Kristin Lane, Fletcher's Orton-Gillingham Fellow, Terri Queen, NC DPI Literacy Consultant, Ann Jolly, UNC Charlotte University Supervisor & Clinical Assistant Professor, and Melissa Mascari, Nationally Certified School Psychologist at Concord Middle School.

Help Us Keep Carpool Safe and Organized
Be on the lookout for runners using the sidewalk along Sardis Road when entering and exiting campus.
Morning carpool runs from 7:55 to 8:10 am. Any students arriving after 8:10 am should plan to be dropped off at the front portico, and sign in through the kiosk in the lobby.
Please help us keep the carpool moving and proceed to the main exit if the right-turn, exit-only is full (has three cars in the drive).

Participate in Socktober Through October 27
Socktober has kicked off! Socks are the number one requested item at shelters, so let’s help fulfill this need and give our neighbors a cozy winter.
Beta Club is collecting new socks in all sizes to help people who are unhoused. There are boxes in the foyers for sock collection. Socks will be collected through Friday, October 27.
Wear Your Costumes - Halloween, Tuesday, October 31
We're starting a new Fletcher tradition! On Halloween, we encourage all students and faculty to wear costumes to school if they would like.
Students should follow dress code guidelines. No masks/face paint, or weapons are allowed, and cultural appropriation is unsuitable.
Please stay tuned for more information from your child’s teacher, advisor, or division head.

Digital Dive for Digital Safety - Wednesday, November 8, at 6-8 pm
We are excited to welcome Agent Traceski from the United States Secret Service back to Fletcher. He will be sharing information with families about helping students make smart decisions online, such as keeping contact information private and including trusted adults in decision-making when they feel uncomfortable. Parents should RSVP here.
Prevent Lost Coats and Jackets: Label Outerwear - As the weather gets cooler, please remember to label students' outerwear.
Parent-Teacher Conferences, Thursday & Friday, November 9 & 10 - Parents will receive an email from their student's homeroom teacher on Monday, October 23, confirming the date/time of their conference in November.

Parents, if you have any Halloween decorations that you can loan Parents' Council for the school dance, please email parent volunteer Mishell Williams at Shellksu@msn.com. They will need to be dropped off at the Front Desk on Friday, October 27, no later than 4 pm.

It's about that time for our middle schoolers' highly anticipated event of the year! We will have a ghoulish time!
Students may come dressed in orange, black, or purple, or they can wear a school-appropriate costume (no masks please)!
Students will indulge in Chick-fil-A nuggets, fruit, cookies, chips, and drinks. There will also be a candy bar!
We will have plenty of photo opportunities. Please have your child ready to give their phone number so the 360 photos can go directly to your device!
Parents, we need your help to make this event a success. Please sign up here to volunteer. As always, we appreciate you very much for all that you do!

Friday, October 27, is the last day to register for the Upper School trip to Atlanta, April 17-19. Click here to register. When the form asks for school, put in Fletcher, and enter North Carolina as the state. The trip will pop up next, and click “Register Student.” This trip is strongly recommended for all Upper School students.

Middle School Soccer finished the regular season in third place. The tournament finals are today, October 19.
Middle School Volleyball finished the regular season in eighth place out of thirteen teams and competed in the tournament on October 17.
Middle School Boys Cross Country and Varsity Boys Cross Country both ended the season in fifth place as a team. Reilly A. came in tenth, Ariel T. came in second, and George P. came in seventh overall in the final race.
Varsity Girls Volleyball just missed the end-of-season tournament, but fought hard all season and were competitive in every game. Everyone who watched them play this season has commented on how much improvement was made.
The Jr. Volleyball Team had a lot of success and made huge gains. Parents have made note of their improvement.
