Screening of Blame It On Gutenberg & Panel Discussion

Join The Fletcher School and IDA NC for a free screening of the documentary Blame It On Gutenberg on Saturday, November 4, at 9 am, at the Independent Picture House.
Blame It On Gutenberg is a powerful film about the evolving science of dyslexia, theories of how to teach reading, and one family’s struggle with their school system.
A panel discussion will follow including the Filmmaker and Producer, Rob DelGaudio, Kristin Lane, Fletcher's Orton-Gillingham Fellow, Terri Queen, NC DPI Literacy Consultant, Ann Jolly, UNC Charlotte University Supervisor & Clinical Assistant Professor, and Melissa Mascari, Nationally Certified School Psychologist at Concord Middle School.

Digital Dive for Digital Safety - Date Changed to Wednesday, December 6, from 6-8 pm
The Digital Dive for Digital Safety originally scheduled for Wednesday, November 8, has been postponed to Wednesday, December 6, from 6-8 pm.
We are excited to welcome Agent Traceski from the United States Secret Service back to Fletcher. He will be sharing information with families about helping students make smart decisions online, such as keeping contact information private and including trusted adults in decision-making when they feel uncomfortable. Parents should RSVP here.
Treats for Troops - Collecting Candy November 1-10
Do you have too much Halloween candy? We have a solution!
Bring in any excess candy to donate to the military serving abroad. Beta Club is collecting candy for Treats for Troops, an organization that sends excess candy to those serving our country. Candy collection takes place Wednesday, November 1-Friday, November 10. Please have students bring their extra candy to the front desk, or parents may drop it off in the collection box located outside the front desk between 8 am-and 3 pm.

Mindfulness in the Digital Age: Empowering Parents to Raise Tech-Responsible Children
Our children are now living in a world where daily tech use and engagement online are normal. Recent research from Statista revealed that 62% of American children watched TV every day, while 30% surfed the internet daily. Although tech tools can be beneficial for children, helping them grow their skills and personhood, they can just as easily be misused.
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, November 9, and Friday, November 10, for Parent-Teacher Conferences.
Please remember no children should attend conferences.
K-5 students will not have classes on November 9 and 10.
