The Fletcher School's Fall Soiree - Save the Date 

• Mark your calendars to join us at Quail Hollow on Saturday, September 30, from 4-6 pm. Invitations will be mailed soon.

The Fletcher School's Fall Family Festival - Save the Date 

• Save the date for Sunday, October 15, from 3-6pm, on campus. Make plans to join Fletcher students, families, faculty, and friends for bounce houses, games, cake walk, treats, food trucks, and more!

  • Parent's Council sponsors the festival and would love to have sponsors to help offset the cost. Please click here for information to show your support as a family or corporate sponsor.    

'Til Death Do You Tweet - September 13 & 14

• Nationally recognized media personality Stephanie Humphrey will speak with Fletcher's Middle and Upper School students on September 13 to help them become better digital citizens through thoughtful social media use.  

• While in Charlotte, Stephanie will also present to parents on Thursday, September 14, at 8 am, at Trinity Episcopal School (TES) to help parents feel more empowered in guiding their children through social media use. Our friends at TES have invited us to join. Learn more here.  

Immunization Records Due September 15

• Updated forms are required for:

• All new students

• All seventh-grade students need a Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV) and a Tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis vaccine (Tdap).  

• All twelfth-grade students need the second Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV).  

Physical Examination and Health History Forms Due

• All sixth graders and students playing after-school sports are required to turn in a current Physical Examination and Health History Form.

2023-2024 Parent Volunteer & Driver Sign-Up Form

• Parent field trip drivers make it possible for students to experience off-campus learning, and athletic event drivers support our sports program. 

  • If you are interested in becoming a parent volunteer/approved driver for 2023-2024, please follow these steps:

    • Login to your FACTS Family Portal and select Web Forms from the School Menu in the left-hand column.

    • Choose 2023-2024 Parent Volunteer and Driver Sign-up

    • Complete the Web Form and remember to Save (which will submit the form)

    • Volunteers are required to undergo a criminal background check and driving record review. Once your completed form is received,  you will receive an email from Praesidium, requesting information and approval to perform the background check and driver review.

    • Once you have been approved, you will receive a confirmation email from The Fletcher School and your name will be placed on the school's Parent Volunteer/Approved Driver listing that is accessible to your child's teacher.

Choose Yearbook Photo by September 18

• All families need to designate which picture of their student they want in the yearbook by Monday, September 18, even if they are not placing an order. Orders completed by the early bird deadline of Friday, September 8 will receive 15% off, with a minimum order of $25. Follow these steps:

• Click here to access the St. John Photography website.

• Click on "find My School."

• Enter "flsc" as the password.

• Enter your student's first and last name in the search.

• Click on the picture desired, choose Yearbook Choice, and follow the prompts.
  
  

Adjustment to 4:15 pm Carpool

• 4:15 pm carpool will now run from 4:15 to 4:25 pm. 

• Students remaining on campus at 4:25 pm will be taken to Extended Day Care and will need to be checked out through the front desk. Students remaining in Extended Day Care past 4:30 pm will be charged through their FACTS account.

Athletics Pickup

• Student-athletes remaining on campus 10 minutes after athletics practice is scheduled to end, or 15 minutes after a home competition ends, will be taken to Extended Day Care. 

• Student-athletes are welcome to remain in Extended Day Care until 5:30 pm and will need to be checked out through the front desk. Students taking part in Extended Day Care will be charged through their FACTS account.

Fletcher in the News

• Pride Magazine did this article on the impact of technology at Charlotte's private schools. We especially enjoyed the insights from Dr. Heather Ramsey, our director of educational technology, about Fletcher's digital literacy and citizenship program infused in all classes.

• Pre-ordering is encouraged. Pre-orders are due by 5 pm on Thursdays for the following week. Follow these instructions. 

New Family September Events

• Saturday, September 9 - New families in grades K-12 are encouraged to join us for the New Family Workshop, from 9-11 am. If you haven't already, email your RSVP to Laura Boggess, Program Coordinator, at lboggess@thefletcherschool.org. This workshop for parents and guardians features essential information about learning differences and not-to-be-missed simulations, which put you in your child's shoes in the classroom.  

• Thursday, September 21 - Middle & Upper Schools New Parent Coffee - Join other new Middle and Upper School parents for coffee, chat about the start of the school year, hear from school leaders about upcoming events, and ask any questions you might have about our school and community. Please RSVP here.

• Thursday, September 28 - Lower School New Parent Coffee, 8:10 am, on campus - Join other new Lower School parents for coffee, chat about the start of the school year, hear from school leaders about upcoming events, and ask any questions you might have about our school and community. Please RSVP here.

• If you can't join us for a new parent coffee, keep reading below, for opportunities to join Fletcher parent gatherings for your student's division hosted by Parents' Council.

Lower School

• MAP Testing will take place from Tuesday, September 12-Wednesday, September 20. Please see this letter for more details.

• Here are the slides from the Lower School Division Presentation at Curriculum Night on August 24. Please let Trina O’Connor, Lower and Intermediate Schools Division Head, know if you have any questions at toconnor@thefletcherschool.org.

• Do you need another window tag for carpool? Fill out this form, and we will send one home with your child. For parents who regularly carpool with other families, it is helpful to have window tags for all the students who carpool with you.  

• Wednesday, October 4 - Save the date for a Lower School Parent Gathering at Juniper Grill Ballantyne, 7 pm, hosted by Parents' Council. Whether you're a returning or new Fletcher parent, this is a great opportunity to meet other Lower School parents and socialize. Parents will order from the menu and be responsible for the cost. Parent volunteer Susie Cesarski, sec376@aol.com, will email parents with details and RSVP link.       

Middle School

• Middle School Dance Volunteers - The Middle School Dance is on Friday, October 27! Parents' Council is looking for individuals to help with planning. Please contact parent volunteer Mishell Williams at shellksu@gmail.com if you are interested.

Upper School

  • To register for the more in-depth Iceland trip meeting on Wednesday, September 13, click here. Even if you can’t make the meeting, please register as this will put you on the mailing list to receive more information moving forward.

  • To apply for The Suzi Stephens Scholarship for Student Travel Abroad for the Iceland trip, complete this form by Friday, September 22.

Educational Technology

• Tuesday, September 12 - Join us for the Digital Dive: iPad & Macbook at 6 pm in the Technology Learning Center and the Dining Hall. Please RSVP here. Be sure to bring your child's Fletcher device to the presentation with you.

  • Digital Dives will help families better understand the technology-driven world our students live in today. Parents will get hands-on experience with their student’s devices. The agenda:
