Materials & Assignments
Your course materials are contained within this site. Additionally, we will ask that you review certain New Mexico Rules of Civil Procedure and Uniform Jury Instructions that correspond with the drafting assignments we will be giving you. There may be occasions when we provide you with additional reading materials after your drafting assignments. All of the assignments will be sent to a specific adjunct for grading. Please include the title of the pleading and your name in the subject line.
Attendance
It is an ABA requirement that the law school certify that students were in “good and regular attendance.” We will take attendance each day. Your attendance record will greatly affect your grade. Absent exceptional circumstances, you will not receive credit for this course if you miss more than three classes.
Grading
Each student will be given either credit or a D/F at the end of the semester. Your grades will be evaluated and determined by your class participation and your improvement over the course of the semester, as well as your timely submission of drafting exercises and attendance. We anticipate that by grading the class in this manner, you will each have the maximum flexibility to grow and develop your writing styles.
Drafting Assignments
This course is designed to assist you with drafting basic civil pleadings and motions. You will be given a drafting assignment approximately bi-weekly. Please note that while you may work together insofar as orally discussing the drafting assignments, each student must prepare their own written work. You may submit your drafting assignment to the adjunct via e-mail on or before the due date. Absent extenuating circumstances, extensions will not be given for assignments.
Office Hours
We do not keep “Office Hours,” however we will be available to meet with you both before and after class. You may also call us or e-mail us regarding any assignment given.
If you prefer to make an appointment, just let us know in person or via e-mail when you would like to meet.
Enjoy the Course!
